How to measure your pergola?

To avoid water pockets caused by bad weather, it's important to take the right dimensions for your pergola, so that your tarpaulin will be as taut as possible and easy to install.

To do this, take the internal dimensions of the structure and remove 8 cm from the width and 8 cm from the length. At the edges, the 4 cm gap between the structure and the tarpaulin ensures good tension with a certain degree of flexibility.

Don't forget custom-made pergola tarpaulins...

Once you've decided on the type of tarpaulin you'd like to use, and you've got the right dimensions in your pocket, it's time to choose your pergola tarpaulin according to these criteria. From transparent to colored, BÂCHES DIRECT offers a wide choice of covers.

Unfortunately, it sometimes happens that the standard dimensions don't fit your pergola, or that you can't find a pergola cover that meets 100% of your requirements: size, shape, color...

Here, it's possible: you can create your own made-to-measure tarpaulin! As your designer, we'll create a tarpaulin that's perfectly suited to your needs. Don't wait any longer, make your request and receive your free quotation within 24 hours!

Fastening accessories

Pergola covers must be securely fastened to prevent them from being torn off at the first sign of bad weather. To avoid this type of problem, which could cause damage, we recommend the essential fastening accessory: the 9mm bungee cord.

The elastic bungee cord is a professional-quality product that gives the canvas a certain amount of float in strong winds. As a result, it is highly resistant and eliminates the risk of the tarpaulin tearing. It offers the advantage of quick and easy fastening, as well as being very easy to dismantle.

Another alternative are all-purpose fasteners for tarpaulins; very simple to use, these little fasteners are strong, quick and clever.

For additional support for your pergola cover, discover our fastening accessories including a mortise, a strap and a tube of neoprene glue. This kit gives your canvas a better hold on your structure. The PVC mortise is 1400g, making it extremely strong. Very practical to install, you position the mortise yourself with its strap close to the frame.

Installing a pergola cover

How do you mount an arbor cover using a bungee cord?

First of all, you need to determine the length of the bungee cord you will need to attach the cover.

Don't worry, to calculate the length you need, just calculate the perimeter of your tarp and add between 20% and 30% depending on the thickness of the structure.

Installation of the bungee cord pergola cover could not be easier: the cover has metal eyelets every 250 mm around the perimeter. Pass the bungee cord through the eyelets, wrap it around the structure, and secure it.

How do you fasten an arbor cover with ball tensioners?

You can use them in two different ways. You can wedge the ball into the eyelet of the tarp, or you can use the rope to secure the tarp to a stake, rope, hook, etc.

How do you hang a pergola cover with a reinforcement kit?

Simply place the mortise in the exact spot where you want to create a joint with the pergola. Once you have chosen the spot, use neoprene glue for double bonding, but don't use too much to avoid overlapping.

Repairing your pergola cover

In some cases, your pergola cover may tear or crack. Your first thought would be to buy another one.

At BACHES DIRECT, we offer repair accessories designed exclusively for pergola tarpaulins.

  • The transparent adhesive for your PVC tarpaulin is a professional-grade product with strong, UV-resistant adhesion. To use, clean the damaged surface, then apply the adhesive to the desired length. For double strength, we recommend sticking the tarpaulin on both sides.
  • The PVC tarpaulin repair kit contains 1m² of PVC tarpaulin in all available colors (gray, white, ivory, blue, green) and a tube of neoprene glue. It's very easy to use: simply stick the piece of tarpaulin over your crack and that's it! It sets immediately, making your tarpaulin completely watertight again!

And that's all there is to it! Now you've got everything you need to choose, fix, repair and maintain your pergola cover.

Now it's up to you!
